Samsung Introduces Three Products to Its Mobile Line-Up at IFA 2011…And One Opens a New Category
Berlin, Germany – Samsung made news at IFA in Berlin – Europe’s leading consumer electronics and appliance show – with its introduction of three mobile devices two of which are expected to land at retail in the US in time for Black Friday – the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the Galaxy Notepad.
While it announced the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and a new smartphone, the Wave with an updated version of bada 2.0 – Samsung’s proprietary operating system – Samsung’s Galaxy Notepad is catching people’s imagination.
Ever wish that you could capture those ideas before they float away – without looking for a pad of paper or Post-Its cluttering your desk! With the announcement of the Galaxy Note, Samsung is looking to pioneer a new product category in the mobile space. Is it a phone or a tablet? It’s a hybrid!
With a 5.3 inch HD Super AMOLED display – this device offers the largest screen size with smartphone portability and with its advanced stowaway ‘S’ Pen interface, Samsung is aiming to introduce a new type of user-experience. The ‘S Pen’ maximizes touch sensitivity for handwritten note-taking, drawing, grabbing screen captures, or annotating pictures with voice, photo or text – for a new type of multimedia experience.
The S-Pen functionality has been deeply integrated into the GALAXY Note’s native applications to provide for a richer interactive experience. The S Planner is a smart professional planning tool that makes full use of the device’s large screen. It integrates the phone’s To-Do list and schedule; control and navigation is intuitive, helping users to comprehensively organize their lives. Samsung anticipates that third-party developers will jump on the bandwagon.
The superior screen also offers a 180 degree viewing angle, allowing contents to be conveniently shared – and its high resolution ensures that PowerPoint presentations, web-pages, news apps and e-books can be viewed comfortably with minimal scrolling or zooming.
This Android (Gingerbread) digital notepad features dual 8MP and 2MP cameras, a removable 2,500mAh battery for longer usage, and the same Samsung-made dual-core 1.4GHz processor you’ll find in the just-announced Galaxy Tab 7.7 – that ensures speed and a smooth user interface for seamless usability. Lightning fast network speeds ensure a quick and seamless browsing experience –and enables users to stream videos in real-time or engage with their friends through online gaming platforms.
Weighing only 6.3 ounces and 0.38 inches thick, this device easily fits into a pocket or bag. I have small hands – and this device was easy to hold and the styling captured the ‘cool’ factor’ associated with today’s mobile culture, entertainment and communication.
Samsung’s announcement also featured a slew of accessories for this stylish device — and retailers can bet that more will be coming not only from Samsung but also from other third-parties.
Easily send handwritten images and notes via text message, email, or Samsung’s ChatON communication service. Samsung says it’s still in discussions with carriers worldwide, so for those in the U.S. – stay tuned!
